35% OF THE COMPANY'S SHARE CAPITAL
Tradia has plans for significant expansion throughout Spain, involving an investment of 60,000 million pesetas in the coming three years. Acesa Telecom, S.A., part of the Acesa Group, has acquired 35% of the shares in Tradia, formerly DDST, Difusió Digital Societat de Telecomunicacions, for a sum exceeding 7,600 million pesetas.
With this new acquisition, Acesa Telecom will now own 87% of the company, since it acquired a 52% stake last May. The remaining 13% will remain in the hands of the Generalitat de Catalunya via its Centre de Telecomunicacions (Telecommunications Centre).
Tradia has plans for significant expansion over the course of the next three years, involving extending its service throughout Spain and calling for an investment of around 60,000 million pesetas.
The company’s principal goal is to become an independent telecommunications infrastructure operator, offering the use of its network to telephone companies, radio and television broadcasters and other groups looking to establish their own network. Tradia currently provides a service to Amena, Telefónica and Airtel. The company intends to boost its growth with the development of UMTS technology, increasing the current turnover figure of 4,500 million pesetas to 25,000 million in 2004.
