A'liénor, the consortium in which Eiffage has a 65% stake and Sanef (abertis Group) 35%, has today opened the new A-65 toll road, also known as the 'Autoroute de Gascogne', which covers 150 kilometres and links the towns of Langon and Pau, in the south-west region of France.
A'liénor has been commissioned to design and build the new infrastructure, in which around €1.2 billion has been invested. sanef - through sanef aquitaine - has taken on the management of the toll road for 60 years. Eiffage, for its part, developed the infrastructure construction project through its subsidiary, GIE A-65.
The construction works on the A-65 began in July 2008 and have ended four years after the signature of the concession contract and two and a half years after the start of the works. The old road which linked Langon and Pau was known for its complex route and the incidents which occurred on the road. Through the new infrastructure, traffic conditions in this section will improve significantly, in terms of safety and comfort, with modern facilities adapted to the environment.
