The C-32 motorway is widened from two the three lanes at Castelldefels to increase the flow of rush hour traffic
Press release from the Department of Territorial Policy and Public Works of the Generalitat de Catalunya
Upon completion of the works, the C-32 will boast three lanes in the area between the incorporation of the C-31 highway and the Pineda de Castelldefels junction, Barcelona-bound, and the area of the meeting of the C-31 and the C-32 motorway, Tarragona-bound. This widening is being carried out using the motorway’s current central reservation and is thus not affecting traffic.
The works on the Tarragona-bound side of the motorway are fully complete, except for some vertical signing which will be installed when the works have been completed in both directions. The Catalan Traffic Service contemplates a reversible lane on this section from this week on, to deal with all heavy traffic returning from holidays.
Work on the Barcelona-bound side will be fully completed before Easter Week, as far as vehicle traffic is concerned. Nonetheless, the finishing touches and some complementary works –which will not affect traffic– will remain to be done.
In addition to the widening from two to three lanes, the project includes cleaning of the drainage and improvements to signing and vehicle containment systems.
The budget for the project stands at €1.9 million, which will be borne by aucat, the motorway’s operator.
