saba, the parking business unit of the abertis group, has been awarded the leasehold operation of a secure lorry park in the Arasur logistics park, in Rivabellosa (Álava).
The park, with its 194 parking spaces, is built on a 23,700 square-metre site, and is the company's first venture in the province of Álava. saba runs another park in Getxo (Vizcaya) in the street Calle de las Mercedes .
Among the reasons why this park was built is the growing demand for secure parking in the context of the Trans-European Transport Network, to improve safety for lorry drivers and traffic in general, and to fight insecurity in road haulage.
Major investments will be made in the new park to fit it out with the latest technological breakthroughs - specifically, in the control system, number-plate recognition, and in the closed-circuit security cameras and signage. The ultimate aim is to provide a quality service for the users, based on saba's policy of giving priority to innovation, applying new technologies and designing parking sites as a fundamental component in mobility.
Arasur is one of southern Europe's top logistics parks. The park has a total area of 2 million square metres (200 hectares), and during the course of the next nine years over a million square metres of industrial premises will be sited there, the investment forecast for their building being estimated at some 360 million euros.
