In its different business areas, abertis is present in 15 countries over Europe, America and Africa: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Spain, the US, France, Ireland, Jamaica, Mexico, Portugal, Puerto Rico, the UK, South Africa and Sweden.
Tollroads
abertis directly manages 3,743 kilometres of tollroads and, following the incorporation of French operator sanef, is ranked third in Europe in terms of kilometres managed. In Spain, it is largest group of high-capacity route operators and directly manages more than 1,500 kilometres of tollroads.
Additionally, abertis participates in the management of a further 2,000 kilometres, through its stakes in concessions in the UK, Argentina, Chile and Portugal.
Telecommunications
abertis telecom is on of the leader european groups in management of telecommunications infrastructures and services. Its purchase of a stake in the satellite operator Eutelsat in 2007 was a first major step in the international expansion of abertis' activities in the field of telecommunications. Its growth in this direction is reflected by the acquisition of a 33.4% stake in Hispasat, making abertis the largest shareholder of the spanish satellite operator.
Through tradia and retevisión, abertis telecom has the leading network of sites for the distribution and broadcast of radio and TV signals in Spain: over 3,200 points throughout the country, allowing it to provide sound and vision to over 12 million homes. Also, abertis telecom is Spain's core operator in the deployment of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT). abertis telecom has also facilited the incorporation of new services to the DTT environment, like the High Definition emission tests.
Airports
abertis airports is one of the world’s leading airport operators, with a strong presence in Europe and America. The company has interests in 29 airports in 8 countries, with a global traffic of more than 80 million annual passengers.
Via tbi, abertis airports manages an international network of eight airports in Europe, the US and Latin America. It also has management agreements with governments or local authorities in five more US airports.
In 2007, abertis purchased desarrollo de concesiones aeroportuarias (dca), holding with shares in 15 airports in Mexico, Jamaica, Chile and Colombia.
In Colombia, abertis airports also manages, through the company Codad, the two runways at the El Dorado airport in Bogota.
