In its different infrastructure management areas, abertis is present in 17 countries: Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Spain, the US, France, Italy, Jamaica, Morocco, Mexico, Portugal, Puerto Rico, the UK, South Africa and Sweden.
MotorwaysMotorways represent 76% of abertis Group income and 87% of its EBITDA
abertis directly manages 3,320 kilometres of motorway and, following the incorporation of French operator sanef, is ranked third in Europe in terms of kilometres managed. In Spain, it is largest group of high-capacity route operators and directly manages more than 1,500 kilometres of motorway.
Additionally, abertis participates in the management of a further 5,400 kilometres, through its stakes in concessions in Italy, the UK, Argentina, Chile and Portugal.
In February 2006, the incorporation into the abertis Group of French operator sanef (Société des Autoroutes du Nord et de l’Est de la France) meant the adding of a total of 1,743 kilometres of toll motorway to the abertis motorway network. sanef manages four of the seven motorway accesses to the Ile de France (the Paris region) and also the traffic connecting German, Belgium and Luxembourg with the north of France and the United Kingdom.
TelecommunicationsWith 3,217 sites, abertis telecom is Spain's television and radio signal transport and broadcast leader.
Also, abertis telecom is Spain's core operator in the deployment of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) and, in January 2007, it reinforced its international position with the acquisition of 32% of Eutelsat, Europe’s leading satellite operator, thereby making it the latter company’s biggest shareholder.
With a fleet of 23 satellites in geostationary orbit, Eutelsat occupies a leading position in Europe, where it boasts a market share of 30% and is the third-largest operator in the world, with a share of 13%.
Airportsabertis airports it is one of the world’s leading airport operators, with a strong presence in Europe and America. It is present in 16 airports in six countries, in addition to the 15 airports in which a stake is held by Desarrollo de Concesiones Aeroporturarias (DCA), whose acquisition was announced by abertis in September 2007.
Through an agreement with ACS, abertis has acquired Desarrollo de Concesiones Aeroportuarias (DCA), a holding company whose subsidiaries have interests in a total of 15 airports in Mexico, Jamaica, Chile and Colombia. The transaction, carried out in September 2007, –and subject to the corresponding approval by the Authorities, Partners and related Financial Institutions- involved the acquisition of 100% of DCA’s share capital for a total of more than 270 million euros.
Via the TBI Group, abertis airports manages an international network of eight airports in Europe, the US and Latin America. TBI’s airports recorded passenger traffic of more than 22 million people across the world in 2006.
It also has management agreements with governments or local authorities in five more US airports (Atlanta,Herbert Smart Downtown, Middle Georgia, Burbank y Raleigh-Durham), and carries out consulting services through a consortium in Miami (Florida).
Directly, abertis airports manages, via the company Codad, the two runways at the El Dorado airport in Bogota, Colombia, and holds shares in Castellón Airport.
Car parkssaba, the car parks subsidiary of the abertis group, is the leading car parks operator in Spain and one of the largest in Europe. It has a presence in more than 70 towns and cities in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Chile, Morocco and Andorra, making it one of the industry’s leading companies.
saba currently manages more than 104,100 car parking spaces in 179 car parks located within the countries in which saba is present.
Infrastructure and logistics servicesIn the promotion of logistics spaces, abertis has important projects under way to offer companies and logistics operators privileged enclaves both in Spain and abroad.
More than 300 companies are installed in abertis logística parks, which total 800,000 square metres of constructed industrial buildings. Its customers include leading multinationals in the field of distribution and manufacturing, in different fields, as well as the main logistics operators.
abertis logística is carrying on projects for the construction and operation of logistics parks in both Lisbon, Portugal, and Santiago, Chile: these projects represent decisive steps in the company’s internationalisation process.
