Geographical distribution
One of the main characteristics of the human team of abertis is its distribution throughout the various countries in which the group has a presence. Taking into account only the companies in which it has direct management control, abertis currently has more than 11,000 workers. The group is made up of staff from more than 15 different countries, most of them - 70% - Spanish or French.
Diversity and opportunity
The abertis companies are all working to guarantee equal opportunities and to prevent discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, country of origin, religion or age, in recruitment processes, remuneration and promotion.
abertis promotes the inclusion of women in the work environment. The percentage of women in the staff of abertis has increased in recent years, and now stands at 29%. One fifth of management positions are held by women, who make up 10% of the directors.
In eight companies of the abertis group, one third of the staff are women. Among the various companies, Aulesa is particularly worthy of mention, with more than half of its staff made up of women.
abertis is also working on the integration of disabled staff into the workforce, by means of both direct recruitment and alternative measures. The percentage of direct recruitment nationally is 1.5%, which is complemented by services hired through Special Work Centres and donations made to foundations, reaching 2.4%.
Involvement in business strategy
A good indicator of the level of involvement of the human team and the good working environment is the ability of the company to build up staff loyalty and reduce staff turnover as far as possible. As a result, the average length of time spent at the company is in general very high in all the business units.
With regard to the type of employment contracts, almost 76% of staff have a permanent contract. The temporary contracts are mainly for specified work and services or staff substitutions.
Social advantages
In order to improve the working environment, the Group companies provide a wide range of social benefits for their workers, including outside work activities and discounts on courses, services and products, as well as initiatives aimed at the workers' young children.
In the sports area, 7-a-side football, tennis, athletics, clay pigeon shooting, basketball and mountain biking activities are offered, as well as a company gym. In the cultural area, the abertis Choir is worthy of particular mention, as is staff participation in certain activities, such as theatre or museum outings.
Professional development
Employee training is a fundamental aspect of the professional development of the human team. More than 1.5 million Euros is invested in policies of this kind, adapting the training subject matter to the various companies and internal groups.
Furthermore, 83% of vacancies have been covered with internal staff, thereby promoting staff growth talent development.
