Abertis autopistas has awarded the concession of the six service areas found on the AP-68 (Bilbao-Zaragoza) motorway, run by avasa, to Áreas. These areas are Altube, Logroño, Calahorra, Tudela, Sobradiel and Arrigorriaga. The contract will come to an end in 2026.
The contract contemplates the entire remodelling of the Altube, Logroño, Calahorra, Tudela and Sobradiel service areas in order to make the offer suitable for the current demands of the different kinds of customer. For this project, Áreas will carry out a total investment of €7.5 million.
The remodelling of the areas will be done placing the focus on individual attention and creating loyalty among customers, favouring direct attention and adapting the areas to maximise service and sales. The areas will have amenities such as showers, a nursery and children’s play areas. There will also be a greater selection, with a higher presence of regional products. The commercial surface area will also be increased.
All the areas will have a new, customised, carefully designed image and will be operated under different commercial brand names in keeping with the demand: The Market, La Pausa, Café Café, Il Caffè di Roma, As Hotel Express and Ars.
The remodelling work to be done on the Altube and Sobradiel service areas (heading towards Zaragoza) will be finished during May and June 2012. Work on Sobradiel (heading towards Bilbao) and Logroño will be started at the end of 2012, and the rest of the remodelling work will be started and finished during 2013.
