abertis once again present on the Dow Jones Sustainability world and european indices

The results of the 2007 review confirm that abertis has kept its presence for a further year on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World, which is world-wide in scale, and on the DJSI Stoxx, which covers Europe.

For the 2007 review, the DJSI World, which brings together the top 10% of companies with the best corporate sustainability criteria in the world, invited 2,500 companies, of which 318 were finally selected, representing 20% of the global capitalisation of each of their sectors of activity.

In the case of the DJSI Stoxx, the European index which brings together the top 20% of companies in terms of sustainability, 156 of the 600 companies initially invited were selected.

For the second consecutive year, abertis has achieved an above-average score in the three dimensions analysed: economic, environmental and social. It particularly stands out in the fields of codes of conduct, corporate governance, environmental policy and management systems, biodiversity and labour practices. Additionally, abertis has secured improved positions in the fields of risk management, human capital development and corporate citizenship. The DJSI World and DJSI Stoxx reviews will be effective from 24 September.

The presence of abertis in both international sustainability indices is the result of the Group’s ongoing work and the dedication of efforts and resources to making continuing progress in sustainability-related actions, as well as the development of good business practices in the economic, social environmental dimensions. abertis structures these actions via its Strategic Social Responsibility Plan, applied to its different business units.
