acesa and aucat have augmented their special traffic services for this weekend as a large number of vehicles are expected on the roads due to the start of the summer holiday period. The concessionaires' aim is to optimise and cover the journeys made throughout their road network as extensively as possible. Among other measures, the teams of professionals will be strengthened to offer a better service to users and attend to any needs resulting from the increased traffic.
In order to make journeys as fluid as possible, acesa and aucat recommend that you verify the traffic conditions before starting off. The websites http://www.autopistas.com/ and http://www.aucat.es/ has all the information in real time as well as forecasted traffic loads on the road network it manages. They also advise users to plan trips in advance and avoid those times when the heaviest traffic is expected.
Regarding extension work on the AP-7 in the counties of Girona, work on the carriageway has been interrupted that was being carried out along the Maçanet-Fornells section, making it easier to travel throughout this zone. As from 10 July and up to 1 September, roadworks in a southerly direction will be stopped, and in a northerly direction as from 30 July. The tollroad's lanes will also revert to their normal width and conditions of use.
Work will continue off the carriageway in order to speed up the planned completion times but without this interfering with the traffic flow. In those areas where the hard shoulder has been reduced due to the extension work, special areas have been provided for vehicles to stop in an emergency.
In the area of Tarragona, the opening of a third lane between Mediterráneo and Vila-seca/Salou will help to absorb a larger number of vehicles and will offer better service conditions for users driving along the AP-7 tollroad through these counties.
During this time, acesa and aucat will also reinforce their staff to provide a better service to users and attend to any needs resulting from the heavier traffic. For example, personnel will be increased at the tolls and the Operations Centre, among other measures.
