abertis CEO Francisco Reynés has been appointed to the HISPASAT board of directors. The appointment was approved today by the board of the Spanish satellite operator, in which abertis, through its telecoms subsidiary abertis telecom, is a core shareholder, with a 33.4% stake.
HISPASAT, the world’s seventh largest satellite operator by revenue and leader in the broadcasting and distribution of content in Spanish and Portuguese, operates a fleet of six communications satellites with orbital positions providing coverage in Europe and North and South America.
HISPASATreported a 50.3% jump in net profit in 2009 (year ended 30 June 2010) to €70.6Mn, and a 9.7% increase in revenue to €150Mn, driven by the company’s international expansion and the diversification of its business mix. EBITDA surpassed €116Mn, leaving an EBITAD margin of 80.6%.
abertis has three other representatives on HISPASAT’sboard: Carlos Espinós, the managing director of abertis telecom’s satellite infrastructure division; Javier Martí De Veses, director of legal services and regulation at abertis telecom; and Andrea Luminari, director of abertis telecom’s international business division.
