Jerez Municipal Council commissions tradia to provide the local police’s radio communications service

TRADIA, THE ABERTIS TELECOM OPERATOR, CONTINUES TO GROW BY WINNING NEW TENDERS FOR INTEGRATED EMERGENCY SERVICE RADIO COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES
tradia, the abertis telecom operator, has been awarded the contract for the provision of radio communications services for Jerez Municipal Council’s Local Police. With this, the second winning tender in only two weeks, tradia consolidates is position as Spain’s leading emergency services integrated radio communications network operator.

In providing this service, tradia will operate with its own network and will offer the Municipal Council an integrated service. The abertis telecom operator has a broad network of rural and urban telecommunications sites to guarantee required coverage levels.

55% of tradia’s income for 2003 came from services provided public authorities’ emergency service departments and areas related to, for example, public safety and security services, the water cycle, fire extinction, highways, electricity, etc.

The new system is based on an open world standard which has the capacity to include new users, thus allowing Jerez Municipal Council to increase, in the near future, the number of fleets that operates with it and it to be used by other municipal bodies or enterprises which require broadcasting systems.

The service contracted by Jerez Municipal Council optimises investment in the network and the coordination capacity of the different operational groups.

The network infrastructure will initially consist of two repeaters, expandable to three. This provides the new network with a high level of coverage, in terms of both population and area. The service is planned to commence in October.

The new network will also ensure the ability of different Municipal Council operational users to communication during large public gatherings, since these communications systems do not depend upon public networks.

The service offered by tradia uses TETRA digital technology, giving it great reliability and security and allowing for the transmission of voice and data, as well as the implementation of a range of development applications for the location of vehicles, remote control, etc.

In this way, Jerez Municipal Council adds itself to the list of users of this technology, which offers one of Europe’s most advanced radio communications systems, and which, in Spain, is already in use in Catalonia, Navarra, the Basque Country and Murcia.
