The concessionaire acesa has started preliminary work on extending the C-32 motorway from Palafolls to Tordera, consisting of preparing the terrain for subsequent excavation work and laying the foundations of the viaduct spanning the river Tordera. The work is scheduled to start next January. The project, awarded to the company Dragados, S.A., will involve the building of 4.4 new km of motorway from Palafolls to the exit road to the future A-2 dual carriageway between Tordera and Vidreres. The project has a global budget of 46.6 Million EUR, of which 38.4 Million EUR have been assigned to the execution of the works, and 8.2 Million EUR to general services and expropriation processes, among other items. The project was awarded to Dragados last April, and, following an analysis and certain adjustments to it, is scheduled to be executed within a term of 15 months, i.e., during the second quarter of 2010.
The principal structure foreseen for the new section of the C-32 is a viaduct with a length of 940m that will cross the river Tordera, located in the region of Can Gelpí, along the railway line from Blanes to Maçanet de la Selva. This viaduct will be comprised of two parallel bridges, one in each direction. On the other hand, a second viaduct with a length of 160m is to be executed at the exit road to Blanes. The project will be completed by the installation of longitudinal and transversal draining elements, all the necessary vertical and horizontal signs and environmental measures such as sowing and planting.
