Ahead of schedule, Acesa has today completed the opening of the third northbound lane. The new southbound section became operational on 9 July.
In order to improve the flow of traffic in summer, no works will be carried out on the carriageway from 30 July to 1 September -only night-time works will be carried out from 15 July - and the lanes will return to their usual width with the tollroad's usual conditions of use.
The works to widen the AP-7 are being carried out sequentially, in sections. This will enable the widening work to be gradual and sustained throughout the project, always keeping the existing lanes open, including the sections under construction.
acesa has today opened the third lane of the northbound AP-7 tollroad between Maçanet and Fornells, ahead of the initial schedule. An 18.7 kilometre section in both directions is thus now operational, corresponding to the widening of this section of the AP-7 tollroad in Girona, following the opening of the third southbound lane on 9 July.
The works for the construction of the third lane between Maçanet and Fornells form part of the project to widen the AP-7 tollroad which acesa is carrying out along 125 kilometres between La Jonquera and Vila-Seca/Salou (Tarragona), aimed at increasing the capacity of the road to cope with the increase in traffic - widening it to 3 and 4 lanes - and improving vehicle mobility through the removal of 4 toll barriers.
