Compass Transworld Logistics rents a further 29,400 square metres in Arasur for wind turbine storage

The company, owned by Gamesa and Bergé Logística, has increased the area it rents in Arasur, where it moved in 2008, to 264,400 square metres

Araba Logística S.A. has signed an agreement with Compass Transworld Logistics (CTL) for the lease of a site spanning 25,200 square metres and an industrial building of 4,200 square metres. This is in addition to the 235,000 square metres that the company has already occupied in Arasur since 2008. This brings the total square metres rented by CTL in the logistics park to 264,400 thousand.

From this location, the company centralises the logistics for the global distribution of wind-turbine components manufactured at the Gamesa plants in the Basque Country, Aragón and Castile-León. With these facilities, CTL can optimise its storage and transportation activities, which it previously divided among several sites in northern Spain.

Compass Transworld Logistics, owned by Gamesa (51%) and Bergé Negocios Marítimos (49%), is one of the leading logistics operators of wind-turbine finished products, from both Gamesa and other companies. The company transports products manufactured by Gamesa at its Spanish plants primarily to countries in Europe and North Africa, as well as to the United States and Asia.

Arasur is one of southern Europe's top logistics parks. The park has a total area of 2 million square metres (200 hectares). It is located in a privileged spot at the confluence of the AP-1 (Burgos-Armiñón) and AP-68 (Bilbao-Zaragoza) motorways and the A-1 (Madrid-Irún) dual carriageway. It is also intersected by the railway lines of Miranda de Ebro, which connect it to the ports of Bilbao, Pasajes and Santander, and to Vitoria airport, located 25 km away.

Araba Logística SA is the company that constructs, develops and operates Arasur. Its main shareholders are: Abertis Logística, its industrial, technological and trading partner, with 43.98%; Caja Vital Kutxa, its financial partner with 43.98%; the Department for Transport and Public Works of the Basque Government, with 10%; the Provincial Council of Álava, with 1.95%, and Ribera Baja Town Council with a 0.09% stake.
