The Abertis Group and the MNAC organize an exhibition by the sculptor Julio González in Brazil

The Abertis Foundation, together with Arteris -a Brazilian subsidiary of Abertis-, the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) and the Tomie Ohtake Institute of São Paulo, organizes an exhibition by the sculptor Julio González (Barcelona, 1876 - Arcueil, France, 1942), which will be open to the public from today until August 4. It is the first exhibition about the artist that is exhibited in the Latin American country.

Curated by Elena Llorens (MNAC), the exhibition brings together 70 pieces among sculptures, drawings, paintings, photographs and documents that mark the career of the Catalan artist, recognized as the father of modern sculpture in iron and one of the essential names in the history of art of the twentieth century.

The exhibition was inaugurated yesterday, in an act that was attended, among others, by Ricardo Ohtake, Director-President of the Ohtake Institute; Fernando García Casas, Ambassador of Spain in Brazil; André Dorf, CEO of Arteris; Sergi Loughney, director of the Abertis Foundation; and Elena Llorens, curator of the exhibition.

Pepe Serra, director of the MNAC, said about this exhibition: "I would like to congratulate the Tomie Ohtake Institute for this project and its willingness to present the museum's collections in Brazil. In the same way, we must highlight the firm and constant commitment of Arteris and the entire Abertis Group to culture and art, which has been essential to make this project possible on an international scale".

For his part, Sergi Loughney, director of the Abertis Foundation, said that "culture is one of the fundamental pillars of the social action of the Abertis group and its Foundation, as are road safety, the environment, and thematic areas that contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens".

This exhibition is part of the Abertis Group's commitment to culture, which works with the major cultural institutions of the countries where it is present, with the aim of making culture accessible to the general public and accompanying Public Administrations in this task. In recent years, Abertis, through its subsidiaries and its Foundation, has sponsored large exhibitions of artists such as Miró, Picasso, Dalí and Velázquez, in cities such as Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro or Santiago de Chile.
