Hispasat is the world's ninth satellite operator, leader in the content distribution in Spanish and Portuguese languages. The company has six orbital positions and eight operational satellites, and generated €229Mn in revenues and €175Mn in EBITDA in 2016. During 2017 it has grown its fleet with one satellite launch, having 2 more scheduled for the year.

In Mayo 2017, Abertis has reached an agreement with Eutelsat to acquire its 33.69% stake in Hispasat. As a result, Abertis will control 90.74% of Hispasat. The transaction is subject to the approval of the Spanish Council of Ministers and other customary conditions.
